Hi there!
Hi, I’m Kent Golden, owner of Golden Multimedia. I’m a professor at Quinnipiac University in the Interactive Media + Design department and an author of environmentally-focused fiction. When not teaching the designers of the future or writing about time-traveling raccoons, I often take on client projects dealing with graphic design, audio/video productions, motions graphics, animation, and interactive design.
Why should you consider my services?
I offer my clients the rare ability to provide start-to-finish services when working on complicated projects. Many graphic designers are not filmmakers. Many animators are not programmers. The scriptwriter probably won’t be able to spec out the equipment for an interactive display or troubleshoot technical problems. The photographer isn’t going to mount your screen to the wall and run wires. But these are all things that I not only do but enjoy doing! This lowers costs, speeds up production schedules, and makes for a more seamless end product.
If you are working with me on a project, you can have the confidence that I will be able to handle every aspect of the design, no matter what your goals are.
More about me: Technology, Design, and Education
At a young age, I was trained as an electrician and have always enjoyed working with technology. For many years I worked in computer tech support and systems administration. Later in my career, I worked in custom audio/video design and programming. Then I moved into digital design, animation, web/app programming, and filmmaking. While I love working in all of these areas individually, I believe I’ve found my true calling in using all of these various skills together for educational projects, working with worthy clients, and teaching.
Through Golden Multimedia I have been serving clients since 2004. I have been teaching full-time since 2008.
I have a Bachelor’s degree from Quinnipiac College in Psychology and a Master’s degree from the University of Connecticut in Educational Technology. I also did coursework at Yale University in Digital Video and Interactive Design from Quinnipiac University. I am actively pursuing my MFA in Motion Media Design at the Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD).
I am currently a Senior Instructor of Interactive Media + Design in the School of Communications and an Assistant Clinical Professor in the School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University.
I teach in the Graphic and Interactive Design (IDD/GID) undergraduate program as well as the Interactive Media and Communications (ICM) graduate program.
On the tech side, I have certifications from Microsoft and Crestron. I am also an Apple certified developer for iOS app creation, and a licensed Remote Pilot for drones (sUAS) through the FAA.
A lover of nature and animals, I have served on many sustainability-focused committees both at Quinnipiac University and in the local community.
My other passion is in writing and storytelling for the greater good. Check out my latest book: Ricky the Time Traveling Trash Panda if you are interested in a fictional adventure focused on the environment and animal rights.
